Mickey Cochrane

The best catcher of the 1920s and 1930s, Cochrane was a field leader who later managed the Tigers to their first World Series title.

As part of the A's he won two titles, and in all he was a key part of five AL Pennant winners.

He almost became the second man to die as a result of injury when he was beaned in the head in 1936.
